Tech has first losing season since 1990

Junior rightside Monique Mead had 10 kills, but made 11 errors, as Georgia Tech fell to Clemson 22-25, 24-26, 19-25 to finish the 2011 season Wednesday night in Atlanta. Mead, Tech's only All-ACC honoree, could only shoulder so much of the load this year as the Jackets wound up in their first losing season since an 8-30 mark in 1990. Playing much of the year without injured seniors Bailey Hunter and Asia Stawicka, the Jackets struggled to an 8-12 ACC finish, the most conference losses in school history. Hunter will return next season after red-shirting this year, while Stawicka has finished her eligibility.

The team fought hard all the way to the end and never gave up on themselves or each other. The experience they all gained will help Tech to a better 2012.

My thanks to the team and coaches, as well as to those who listened to the broadcasts and visitied this site. Special thanks to Dale Reiner and Leo Keselman for making the broadcasts possible and to Brittany Roderick for making the matches come alive. Also to Seth Girard, Betsy Devine and Theresa Wenzel for their support.
