Strong effort falls short at Florida State

After falling behind 0-2 in sets, Georgia Tech won the next two sets. After falling behind 3-8 in the fifth, Tech tied it up at 13, but #16 Florida State won the last two points and the Jackets fell 17-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23, 13-15 in Tallahassee, FL Friday afternoon.
Tech wraps up the regular season at 24-8, 15-5 in the ACC, their best season since 2009, when a 21-10, 15-5 combination was good enough to make the NCAA Tournament. 24-8 was Tech's best overall season since 2004's 27-7 finish.
Junior outside Gabriela Stavnetchei got hot early and led the offense with 17 kills, hitting .100, and added 7 blocks. Senior outside Teegan Van Gunst added 15 kills, hitting .093, with 16 digs, and senior rightside Annika Van Gunst banged out 12 kills, hitting .385, with 16 digs as well.
Senior libero London Ackermann led the back row with 22 digs and senior setter Rebecca Martin handed out 43 assists.
A solid bubble team, Tech heads back to Atlanta to watch the NCAA selection show Sunday night at 9:00pm on ESPNU. See story and box score.
