Jackets come up short against Kansas State

The fifth set of a volleyball match is a coin flip and tonight it came up tails as Georgia Tech lost at Kansas State 22-25, 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 12-15 Saturday night to finish the weekend at 1-2.

As in most five-set matches, there were numbers for everyone.

Senior outside Teegan Van Gunst led Tech with 20 kills, hitting .183, with 15 digs. Junior outside Gabriele Stavnetchei hit another career-high with 16 kills, hitting .164, with a career-high 19 digs and her first double-double.

Senior libero London Ackermann led the back row with a career-high 32 digs. Senior rightside Annika Van Gunst also earned a career-high with 23 digs.

Tech played even with Kansas State, but the home team was able to squeeze out that extra point here and there to win the match.

Michigan hands Tech first loss

The Jackets couldn't overcome 38 hitting errors, 26 of them unforced, as Tech fell to Michigan 16-25, 17-25, 25-19, 22-25 Saturday morning in Manhattan, KS.

Senior outside Teegan Van Gunst led the offense with 16 kills, hitting .217 and surpassing 1000 career kills. Junior outside Gabriele Stavnetchei pounded out a career-high 15. Senior outside Annika Van Gunst added 13 kills as the trio earned 44 of Tech's 54 kills.

The twins recorded double-doubles as they led the back row with 21 digs each. It was the first time the twins have hit 20+ digs in the same match. Senior libero London Ackermann added 19 digs.

Senior setter Rebecca Martin just missed a double-double with 42 assists and 9 digs.

Jackets improves to 3-0 over Tigers

Georgia Tech notched another win over Tigers with an easy 25-13, 25-14, 25-17 victory over Tennessee State Friday night in Manhattan, KS.

Senior rightside Annika Van Gunst led the team in kills with 6 and digs with 9. Junior outside Gabriela Stavnetchei shared the lead in kills with 6.

Freshman defensive specialist Emily Becker saw her first action as a Yellow Jacket, recording her first college ace and dig.

Tech sweeps Furman for perfect weekend

Senior libero London Ackermann was named tournament MVP and both Teegan and Annika Van Gunst joined her on the All-Tournament team as Georgia Tech swept Furman 25-13, 25-20, 25-17 Saturday night in Auburn, AL.

Tech was a perfect 3-0 on the weekend.

Teegan Van Gunst led the team with 12 digs, hitting .355. Annika Van Gunst led the back row with 13 digs while pounding out 8 kills with no errors, hitting .381. Ackermann added 11 digs to finish out a 61-dig weekend performance.

"A" Day at Auburn as Tech beats other Tigers

Senior rightside Annika Van Gunst notched a double-double with 16 kills, hitting .256, and 11 digs while senior outside Teegan Van Gunst picked up 13 kills and 16 digs as Georgia Tech beat Pacific 25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21 at Auburn, AL Saturday morning.

Senior libero London Ackermann led the back row with a stellar 28 digs, one off her career-best.

Senior setter Rebecca Martin's 29 assists put her over the 2500 mark (2521) for her Tech career.

Twins tame Tigers

Senior outside Teegan Van Gunst had 12 kills, hitting .143, and tied her career-high with 22 digs and senior rightside Annika Van Gunst added 10 kills, hitting .091, to lead Georgia Tech to a 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18 win at Auburn Friday night.

Junior middle Sydney Wilson hit double-figures with 10 kills, hitting .364.

Senior libero London Ackermann added 22 digs to help Van Gunst lead the back row.

While the team hit .201 for the match, the defense held Auburn to .193 while picking up 76 total digs.

The Tigers helped the Yellow Jacket cause by missing 20 serves.

Junior outside Gabriela Stavnetchei got off to a good start with 8 kills and freshman middle Kodie Comby saw her first action, picking up a kill and 2 blocks in 2 sets.
